Who are you?

Head shot of Warren Wong with brick wall background

I was born and raised in Queens, New York – a cultural melting pot in New York City – a place where immigrants found refuge, and where “futbol” reigns supreme.

My university years were spent studying the language of business, accounting, but, somewhere between classes on taxation and short college romances, I realized that it wasn’t for me, so I booked a last-minute flight to China.

During those formative months, I made a life-changing decision to join the United States Marine Corps, a long-awaited dream of mine.

After an exciting career dealing with top secret mission briefings for special operators to sending Marines to the brig (military jail), I found myself out in real world in 2020.

As I drove across the country during the height of the pandemic, I was faced with a big career change ahead of me. After a few stumbles, I got to work and re-invented myself as a Software Engineer.

I spent the next few years building cool technologies in the education and entertainment industry, before I embarked on a sabbatical and began my quest for meaning and purpose. The rest of it is still in the works.

Why do you write about this stuff?

This blog has grown and changed over the years, but one central theme remains, it’s one of self-discovery, identity, and purpose. Matters that tug at the heartstrings, cause sleepless nights or make you want to bury your head in the sand and scream. Matters of the soul.

This blog began as a creative outlet to crystalize my thoughts, on a public platform; so as to possibly help out others in the process and to have their own “aha” moments or at least a few chuckles.

Plus, I think deep within us, we’re all trying to understand ourselves, the world, and our place within it.

I’m by no means an expert, nor do I have formal qualifications. I write from experience, the good, and the bad; trying to figure this thing out called life.

This is my full story.

How Can I Support You?

All my work is free. It’s a labor of creative pursuit. If you want to support you can do so here. I will continue to write as long as I love it.
